The United Reformed Church (URC)

Pilates classes at the recently refurbished United Reformed Church are held in a light-filled, spacious hall that immediately feels calm, open, and welcoming. The abundance of space allows everyone to move freely and comfortably, making it ideal for Pilates, balance work, and flowing sequences — without ever feeling crowded.

The hall features warm oak flooring and soft pastel tones, creating a gentle, uplifting atmosphere that feels soothing rather than clinical. These thoughtful design details help you relax into movement and enjoy your Pilates practice from the moment you arrive.

The space is also beautifully practical for Pilates. Chairs and pillars positioned around the room provide excellent support for balance work, standing exercises, and confidence-building adaptations. A small, elegant raised stage ensures the teacher is easy to see from anywhere in the room, while remaining unobtrusive so the space still feels open, connected, and inclusive.

A further highlight of this venue is the separate, welcoming entrance area, reserved solely for our use during class times. This offers a calm space to arrive, settle, and prepare for your session. Toilet facilities are conveniently located nearby within the church, adding to the overall comfort and ease of attending class.

Combined with underfloor heating, the venue offers year-round warmth, making mat work, stretching, and relaxation genuinely enjoyable. Centrally located with nearby parking, the United Reformed Church provides a Pilates setting in Bishop’s Stortford that feels considered, supportive, and a pleasure to practise in.
